More To Life

Does a new sport, travel, music or photography interest you?  Weston and Newbridge churches are linking together to ask members of their community if they want to get more out of life, with an ongoing programme of activities and events.

Sport, travel, music, talks, local history, food and drink, the environment and special church festivals are all in the long-term programme offered to local residents by churches in Weston and Newbridge.

Based on a successful programme run by the churches in Keynsham in 2008, the
purpose of 'More to Life' is to encourage people in the area to join together to do the things that they love doing or that they would like to get involved in – to follow their passions, and so get
more out of life!

Each area of activity is being led by a team of people from the churches involved, they key areas are:

  • Sport

  • Travel

  • Music

  • Photography

  • Visual arts

  • Books and stories

  • Local history

  • Food and drink

  • Environment and nature

Organised events and activities will include:-

  • Talks by leading speakers

  • Practical sessions

  • Activities in schools

  • Visits and outings

  • Social events and parties

  • Special church services

  • Festivals and shows

With plans to continue the project for at least a year it is hoped that many activities will continue long after, as new groups and friendships are formed in the community.

Why is the project happening?

Organisers of 'More to Life' say the main reasons for the project are to help make the community a better place to live but the other key reasons are:

  • Encouraging everyone to enjoy their passions, or find new ones
  • Helping to connect people together, and to inspire each otherBuilding our community, where people meet and talk more
  • Building relationships between Christians and others in the community
  • Bringing the church into the centre of the community
  • Showing that our passions are linked with a spiritual approach to life
  • Making life more fun
