Learning through the Lurgy.. For the past week and a half I have been hit with a serious case of man-flu. I'm talking the nasty 'shivering through the night whilst sweating through my t-shirt' type man flu. However I am beginning to realise that maybe in some strange way I should be grateful for such an affliction. Let me explain a little-we live in a world that cannot stand still. Everything is go go go, everything has to be instant, and if it's not we want to know why, and we want to know NOW!

Happy Birthday to the  A21 Campaign which is five years old this month!  Set up to abolish the hideous crime of people trafficking by partnering with local law enforcement agencies, protecting former victims of trafficking by providing safe houses and prosecuting traffickers, find out more with this special Youtube video.  We are so excited to share that The A21 Campaign is five years old this month. Time flies when we’re abolishing injustice! We can’t believe how much has been accomplished in five years with your help! 

Whether you're a mum, a would-be mum, or waiting to become one, Happy Mother's Day from all of us at Springboardbath.  Whether you believe the origins for this momentous day are found in ancient Greece, or linked with the tradition of giving a simnel cake to your mum in England during the 1600's, there are plenty of opportunities to offer motherhood to others via child sponsorship.  World Vision, Actionaid, Revelation Life (with Bath links) which cares for children in Uganda and People Against Poverty, are but a few of the organisations offering you the opportunity to sponsor a child.

You don't normally ask 'pass the popcorn please' when you go to church, but that would have been appropriate at Grace Community Church's film showing at St Michaels Junior School in Twerton today.  Members of the church gave a screening of Water, a film by Deepa Mehta, depicting the tale of two Hindu widows once being sent to Varanasi and the plight they faced.  Jon and Lorraine of Grace said:  "We told briefly of our heart for India and the Hindu widows, how this came about and what we will be doing in India when we go."

A public debate has taken place in Bath to give people the chance to discuss gay marriage.  The Same Sex Marriage Bill, which is currently passing through Parliament, has divided people, with strong arguments put forward in favour and against.  MP Don Foster, who voted for the bill in its second reading earlier this month, organised the debate to give people the chance to hear the different views and ask questions.  Speaking at the meeting, he said: "Marriage is one of the best celebrations of love and commitment.  And I don't see why it shouldn't be available to all regardless of sexuality."
