Meet Sarah MacGillivray - and Find Out About Her Evening of Performance for Genesis!
Sarah MacGillivray was so inspired by a friend's creative approach to fundraising - that she has asked all the creative people she knows to perform and entertain at a similar event in Bath. Taking place in the Rising Sun Pub on Grove Street, on 4th June, 'Expressions' is an evening of poetry, music, storytelling and performance in aid of Genesis Trust.
So Sarah, please tell us about yourself?
I'm 27 and h
ave lived in Bath for about 10 years. I was born in Reading and was raised in and around Somerset. I am currently looking for work and I volunteer two days a week at the Genesis Trust and once a week at Rose Cottage.
Tell us about 'Expressions'!?
The event I am planning is called "Expressions" and is a poetry, story and music event to be held at the Rising Sun pub on Grove Street on the 4th Ju
ne. A church friend of mine had done something similar and I thought that it would be a great way for people of all ages to show their God given talents.
It promises to be a great night out for the family, with people performing not only well known pieces of poetry and music, but also personal pieces that they have composed or written themselves.
What will the funds raised go towards?
The money is going towards the Genesis Trust and will help people who are in need, which includes homeless people, people who are unemployed and many more.
Who else is involved and who is performing?
Apart from myself as co-ordinator, a colleague called Giles has agreed to be Master of Ceremonies. Another Genesis client, Stephen Howell, has agreed to help me with posters and leaflets.
As for who is performing, John Gordon will be playing some of his songs, Janey Mcloed has agreed to perform, as has Judah Leat, Faith Reed, Joshua Luke Smith, Kara Anne-Marie and many more.
We don't have a full line up yet so if anyone emails in expressing an interest in performing, let me know!
I am performing! I am planning on writing a piece of poetry escpecially for the event.
Who can come?
The event is open to all, I am planning on inviting someone from the Chronicle, but I hope that anyone who wishes to come will do so.
Are you expecting a fun night?
I am definately expecting to have good fun on the night, it should be a great event and I am looking forward to it.
