Dani Miche - Christian Singer Songwriter's New Project!

Dani"I started singing at the age of 14 at school. I was initially trained classically.  It was when I turned 15 and was given a solo singing in a choir that I realised I could sing in the more 'pop' diva style...and I really enjoyed it."  Christian singer songwriter, Dani Miche's powerful voice and elastic vocal range is as impressive if not more so than any 'X Factor' winner's...Find out about her stunning new Christian project - a CD.

"From a young age I was interested in writing music, mainly on the piano...and when I reached 15, taught myself the guitar so I could write songs. And it went from there! Although I never thought I was that great!" Dani continues.

Currently studying a degree in Music at Bath Spa University, Dani who is a stalwart on the worship team at Bath City Church, is excited about her Christian project - putting together an album of songs she has written over the past year or so.

"I have made a small acoustic EP called 'War Cry EP', but this new project will involve playing and arranging the songs with a band which is very exciting." she says.

Dani's songwriting is not always deliberately aimed at Christian listeners, her songs are always for or about God but she hopes that anyone can feel the emotion and meaning in the lyrics.

"The way I write songs often varies, sometimes they are obviously Christian songs, but other times I like to write songs that are multi-interpretational.. meaning to me they are songs to God or about God. However, to a non-Christian they can relate to it on a different level perhaps.

"Either way I believe God is in the songs and so they minister to people. I also want the songs to be real..each one reflects what I was going through with God in that moment. They aren't necessarily all 'happy clappy!'  I want to be genuine as then my heart is in them everytime I sing them."

In fact Dani hopes to reach the 'secular' music world in Bath.  "I have often battled daniandstrawhatin my head about who I want my songs to be aimed at. It got me quite stuck in a rut. And then God was like: Just write the songs and I'll do what I want with them! .. that was quite liberating as it means I am not tied down to writing just congregational songs and only ever playing in a church building, but know some will be used in both contexts. This excites me!"

Dani's powerful voice and impressive vocal range has been described as 'blues' or 'acoustic' but the addition of a band to her new project could change her sound.  She is grateful for the constant support and encouragement she receives from her friends, family and church.

Asked if she would ever take her powerful lungs to popular television programme 'The X Factor' and she's resolute.  "Hmmm.  If I am meant to 'make it' as a musician... I definitely would like to do it the hard core way... not through a reality TV show. Also I would want to be myself and I think they would try make me a pop star - which I definitely am not!"

One thing's for sure Dani is enjoying her journey with God using her talents to His glory and is happy for Him to reveal bits of His plan, as her project unfolds.

"I don't know the big picture, which is what makes life so exciting. Often something great will happen and I''ll be like...ohhhh I wasn't expecting that. How brilliant!"

"I just want people to meet God through my music. I want it to be that sort of music where you can't get it out of your head and you don't know why.. Ultimately, He will impact the people that need it. So it is not something I need to worry about. I think what is important to me is becoming well trained in my skill so that God can use me to the best of my ability. Its biblical!" she says.

Ideas, her dialogue with God, feelings and even a recent mission trip to Africa formDani_and_child Dani's inspiration to write music and lyrics.  " If I have questions I want to ask God, I'll write a song about it. If I am frustrated, I will write a song. If I want to know Him more... I'll write a song! I have started to try and write songs which tell stories. However, that is early days. I'm more comfortable writing about whats on my heart." she says.

"I sing everyday..The great thing about singing is that you can do it anywhere!  Because of my degree I always have to practice: classical, jazz even opera. This is good though as it keeps my voice flexible all the time. It is harder when its the holidays because there are other important things like earning money to live!"

Dani is also in an opera currently.
