Genesis Harvest Appeal to raise £18,000

paulsolly1.jpegPaul Solly, the Director of Genesis Trust has issued an appeal for churches in the city to help support 'The Genesis Harvest Appeal' and help raise funds of £18,000.  In a letter to all the Church leaders in the city last month, Paul describes the three-prong approach to the appeal.

He invites Church leaders to donate the collection from Harvest Services to Genesis, (as well as tinned and durable foods), hold a 'Genesis Sunday' to raise awareness for the charity, and or appoint a 'Genesis Ambassador' - to help keep awareness of the charity within congregations.

He writes:  'As you know, Genesis reaches out to people in need in Bath, as a shared outreach between all the churches.  As with any organisation, we need money to make it all happen.  In order to continue with our work, we need to receive considerable funds over the next 3 months.  So we are launching The Genesis Harvest Appeal with a target of £18,000 from all the churches in Bath.'

Interested Church leaders and members can contact Paul for helpful resources including; Harvest Appeal fliers, the latest Genesis News, which includes the Harvest Appeal, words to put into your service sheet or newsletter and even a speaker for the Harvest Service (or for any other service or event).

Paul suggests autumn as a suitable time for a Genesis Sunday 'It could be in January or February, to tie in with Homelessness Sunday  and Poverty Action Week (30 Jan - 6 Feb 2011)', he writes.

He promises that Genesis Ambassadors will receive training and materials from Genesis Trust, to prepare them.
