The Trauma Recovery Centre (TRC) started working with children in the Bath, Bristol and Wiltshire area in June 2011 and now has over 25 children coming for weekly therapy sessions.
The TRC uses the building of Freedom Bath and Bristol which includes a soft play centre, a massive wooden castle and 8 separate therapy rooms. The TRC team ranges from trainee therapists who work with children with mild difficulties to experienced counselors and therapists who not only work in the TRC but also work with other agencies such as anti trafficking charities.
On April 23rd 2012 the TRC is hosting a national conference, being held in Bath called, ‘Child trafficking: A call for Action.’
The staff of the TRC will be speaking alongside other national charities working to rescue child victims and help them to recover, including Hope for Justice, Love 146 and Unchosen. These charities, along with the TRC, are involved in the forming of a strategic plan to see trafficked children rescued and restored.
Human trafficking is currently the fastest growing crime in the world, with more slaves today than in Wilberforce’s day.
Each charity will be sharing their experience and wisdom about the problem; we can’t turn a blind eye and say it’s nothing to do with us. It’s our world, it’s our generation, and it’s our time.
Anyone is welcome to join us on that day. In the morning will be looking at the national and global problem and what developments there have been so far. In the afternoon there will be a choice of seminars ranging from raising finance, raising awareness, therapy and recovery for the children in trauma, medical interventions, reintegration issues, and others.
It would be fantastic to see people from the churches in Bath coming to find out more and discover how we can work together to see freedom for these hurting people.
