Startling Report By Charity Family Action Highlights Importance of Summer Holidays Projects This Summer....
Can you afford a week's holiday this year? Whether in this country or chasing the sun's rays abroad (currently!).. according to a report by charity, Family Action, many families in the low and 'squeezed' middle income brackets, can't afford holidays this year. More startling, are the implications on the children of those families.

Editor Emma writes:
The report highlights the fact that this lack of experiencing new things and new social situations outside of the family home, widens the gap in cognitive development in those children missing out. So with the importance of holiday experiences highlighted - what are you and your church doing this summer holiday? Download Report!
According to Family Action's site:
-
54% of parents polled nationally plan to cut back on trips this summer because of money pressures
-
A weeks holiday away from home is out of reach for the majority of children both in the squeezed middle and the very poorest households according to Government statistics
-
The cost of day trips is equivalent to a week's disposable income for some of the poorest families
Shocking reading isn't it?!.. So this is where you and your church or Christian Project can really make a difference this summer, if you are organising an activity, event or project Get In Touch..A day's fun, or trip somewhere really can have a lasting effect according to the report, and really contribute towards a child to developing their full potential.
