St Saviour's Building Project

We need to raise £500,000 to complete the proposed work.  Our vision is that work should begin in Spring / Summer 2012.

St Saviour’s is a church firmly rooted in community life. For generations it has met and served the needs of the parish of Larkhall. It is important for us to grow and adapt to meet the changing needs of the parish and to make the building accessible and usable to a wide range of people. As such we are embarking on an exciting and essential renovation building project.

We are blessed at St Saviour’s with a thriving youth congregation and a growing Junior Church. We know that these young people are the future of our church. Our Sunday teaching sessions are supplemented by youth cell groups throughout the week, regular weekends away and a Youth Alpha. Our challenge is space. We know how important identity is for the youth and at present they don’t have their own space within our building. We need to remedy this to improve their sense of belonging and provide storage for resources and materials.

The building project will provide a new room for the youth and children’s work as well as creating three additional flexible rooms of varying sizes for use by the community and church groups, all accessible via a lift. At the same time the Fellowship Centre will be refurbished, a new kitchen servery will be installed and the storage space streamlined and updated.

We would like to create a small display area about the history of St Saviour’s Church. We are keen to preserve the rear gallery pews and mural and we will have the chance to reinstate parts of our rich Victorian heritage, for example the clock on the gallery. We have good links with our community and currently run regular events such as Fairtrade Friday, Lunch club, Toddlers and Messy Church. Our Fellowship centre is regularly used by Brownies, Guides, an exercise group, children’s music group and for children’s parties. It is important we maintain and improve our facilities for everyone using our building.
