People Against Poverty!

Valhuxley.jpegPeople Against Poverty is the umbrella charity or global community of  like-minded people, individuals and communities, comprising of Business Against Poverty, Education Against Poverty, Music Against Poverty and Arts Against Poverty, this 'local international' charity works with people via communities here and overseas to give poverty busting projects.  Find out more!

St Alphege's Social Justice Group: Global and Local Issues

shelaghhetreed-labyrinth1jpegPart of Our Lady and St Alphege's Catholic Church, St Alphege's Social Justice Group is interested in global and local issues.  They have held environmental film nights, to raise awareness on this issue, showing films like 'An Inconvenient Truth', held innovative events like 'Knickers For Zimbabwe' and have links to organisations overseas.  Shelagh Hetreed is the chair.

Unchosen: Anti-Human Trafficking Through Film

unchosen2An anti-trafficking charity which uses film campaigns. Via fiction, documentaries, interviews and Q&As, Unchosen raises awareness about domestic servitude, forced labour, child and sex trafficking happening in the UK.  Unchosen works closely with film directors, anti-trafficking experts, non-governmental organisations and volunteers to co-ordinate film campaigns.  Read Latest Article

World Sport Ministries: Combining Sport and Christianity For Young People

grant_sheppard_self.jpegWorld Sport Ministries is the brainchild of Grant Sheppard described as; 'Combining fantastic life skills, fun, mentoring with of course sport!'.  'Get Sported' camps in Bath, Frome and Bristol.  Regular football, netball and golf are aimed at teens and children. Their More Than Gold programme is linked with the 2012 Commonwealth Games, for local churches and Community Sports Teams.  Read Grant's Interview!

A Creative Project: Pearl Hunters by Stewart Keiller

stewart_keiller_jpegStewart Keiller's third book ''Pearl Hunters' was written by the Mediterranean on the value and purpose of encounter with God.  He says: "I was seeking God for what church and the christian life was all about ..Moses cried out to God saying that unless God went with them as a people then they didn't want to go any further - the presence of God in the centre of us as individuals and the community of God is what it is all about."  Read his Question and Answer Session!

Mike Renton's Project In Aid of Southdown Church and Community Partnership

hymnathon_five_jpeg Nexus Methodist's Mike Renton decided to help raise funds for the Southdown Church and Community Partnership's building project, by arranging a hymnathon!  His mammoth seven and a half hour rendition featured 310 hyms and tunes and raised £2,400 for the Southdown project!  Find out More
