Lifeline Centre

It's cold, it's snowing, you've got no money, and no four walls to sit in for the afternoon....What do you do?  On top of that you have mental health needs and no GP.  The picture could be very bleak. Genesis Trust's Lifeline Centre offers a real rescue.

You don't have to be homeless to pop into the centre in the Forum's basement - you may have problems with addiction, be facing eviction or have just left prison.  Centre users are typically concerned with finding secure accommodation, not losing it!  And may be feeling otherwise very isolated.

Run by Gloria Ware, of Bath City Church, it has been operating since July 2003 and gives direct help to up to 40 visitors a day.  Around 12 volunteers help deliver support packages to those in distress - including placing those facing pending eviction into secure accommodation.

The centre's team works closely with other agencies and related professionals including Bath's mental health team and the RUH's psychiatric and emergency departments to assist those with immediate health problems.

An increasing number of ex-prisoners use the centre and links with Ashfield Prison in Bristol have been forged.

Established to give primary help to those in distress - the Genesis Trust supports this vital project with manpower, premises and funding.
